Be clear about which Professional License test you are preparing for. The educational-position testing system includes General Educational and Specialist components. This guide focuses on the General Educational component, not a subject-specific specialism.

Distinguish the test from the license

A test evaluates knowledge and skills; obtaining a license is subject to the applicable official requirements. Completing a course or practice diagnostic does not replace official procedures. Check current ETEC information rather than relying on an old social post.

Turn concepts into classroom situations

When studying feedback, for example, go beyond its definition. Describe a classroom situation and compare two possible teacher responses. Explain which response helps the learner understand the error and take a useful next step.

Respect the question’s conditions

Several actions may be useful in general. Choose the one suited to the stated learners, objective, available information and stage of teaching. Do not invent extra circumstances to defend an answer.

Explain why alternatives fail

A distractor may describe good practice at another time while failing to address this situation. Record that distinction so you can transfer the concept to a fresh question rather than memorising one wording.

Plan a reviewable week

Combine concept study, scenario practice and error review. Give additional time to weaknesses repeated across new attempts. This guide makes no claims about current exam weights, timings or guaranteed scores.
